Traceroute works up to the server ip address.

Check this first:

If a client cannot get in, using correct login, and website appears to be down as well and if they ping it and the correct ip of the site shows then most likely it is firewalled somewhere. Either on their end (through symantec or something) or on the server side (automatic firewall from login failures).

Check the ip address:
